According to a post on the States of Jersey web site dated 26 January
2010, “The Treasury Minister has announced the launch of
Jersey’s first new set of bank notes for 21 years. Members of the
public will be able to view the designs from Tuesday 23 February at
the Jersey Museum, after an official launch the day before.
“Senator Philip Ozouf announced in his department’s 2009 business plan that new notes would be issued this year. He says “These new designs highlight many different aspects of the island’s diverse architecture, history and culture and represent a fresh, new look for a new decade.
““For the first time you can see the value of each note written in French as well as in Jèrriais. I hope this will contribute to the regeneration of Jersey’s local language and help those of us who grew up in a Jèrriais-speaking household to reacquaint ourselves with our traditional language.
“”I am confident that everyone can find a favourite image from the wide range of striking designs in this new family of notes.”
“All twelve parishes are featured in the new designs, and the back of each note carries the words États de Jersey as well as the parish crests. The notes include a new image of the Queen and a number of local landmarks.
“The new notes are now being printed and will be tested in banks’ cash machines in the coming months. They will start to appear in our pockets from April 2010.”
