On February 28, 2007, the Central Bank of Nigeria issued redesigned notes for the denominations of 5, 10, 20, and 50 naira.

Switzerland settles on designer of new notes for 2008

According to a February 26, 2007, press release, the Swiss National Bank is preparing a new family of banknotes designed by Zurich-based graphic artist Manuela Pfrunder, who placed second in the SNB’s design competition in November 2005.

Pfrunder’s original designs for the six denominations (the 10 Swiss franc is shown above) will require extensive reworking, both artistically and technically, before production begins in mid-2008.

Bangladesh to issue 1,000-taka note in mid-2007

By mid-2007, the Bangladesh Bank plans to issue a 1,000-taka (US$14.50) note featuring the emblem of the Shaheed Minar on the front and the Curzon Hall on the back. Currently the 500-taka is the largest denomination in Bangladesh.

United Arab Emirates issues new date (2006) notes

The United Arab Emirates Central Bank has issued new 2006 dates for all four denominations of its banknote family.

The 50- and 100-dirham notes appear to be unchanged from the current Pick 26 and 27, respectively, except for the new dates on the back.

The 500- and 1,000-dirham notes are like Pick 28 and 25, respectively, but in addition to the new dates, they also now incorporate the denomination in the holographic security stripe at right.
